Award-winning Uni-Prop International Ltd, launches BS4074 accredited trench strut range with a number of new features.

Ipswich, Suffolk 16 June 2020. Uni-Prop® International Ltd. today announced the launch of its range of galvanised trench struts, that are accredited to BS 4074. Trench struts are used globally in trenching operations, with horizontal application, as a means to support trench walls and prevent collapse. Used in conjunction with shoring, secure trench sheeting, bracing and timber walling, the Uni-Prop trench struts are also compatible with the Eze-Shoring nonmetallic trench lining system.

The Construction Leadership Council (‘CLC’) has contributed to the comprehensive range of interactive safety checks and forms to assist construction industry employers. The resources will ensure that those who are permitted and able to return to work have a clear understanding of how they can apply the CLC’s COVID-19 Guidelines:

Available in 5 sizes (covering extension range: 315mm – 3000mm), the new features of the Uni-Prop trench strut include:

  • Hot-dipped, galvanised finish
  • Swivel locking pin stop, to increase efficiency
  • Safety gap between outer tube and inner tube plate, to prevent trapped hands
  • Foldaway handle with simple design, to secure handle in horizontal position (no need for tape)
  • Locking inner tube, to keep tube safely in outer tube
  • Industrial grade chain
  • 150mm sq. x 6mm flat plate supplied as standard

GTS Testing Laboratories have certificated the Safe Working Load examinations on all five trench struts. Designed in Britain, the Uni-Prop trench strut is made by Uni-Prop International Ltd, the global leader in prop and strut innovation. Other products include the multi award-winning Uni-Prop building prop, an innovative adjustable building support that can be quickly adapted to also deliver controlled hydraulic power. This device is widely regarded as a major development for the general building industry; the first such upgrade on steel temporary supports in over 80 years.

Managing Director, David Marr commented on the launch of the Uni-Prop trench strut: “We’ve listened to the market and spent considerable time researching how to modify the existing trench strut, to include important new safety and operational features. The result is a British engineered product that we are confident customers will want. A key difference over predecessor solutions is that our strut is the only galvanised strut in the market. As word gets around, we have received many sales enquiries – even from the USA. Our R&D department is also developing the incorporation of hydraulic power – similar to that used for our building props. More on this exciting development soon.”
